Speakers Greg and Lynn Marshall

Greg Marshall, head basketball coach at Wichita State University, gave more than 70 members and guests of the Rotary Club of West Wichita a preview of the 2010-11 season on October 12th.
Since school started the staff has been conducting three, 40-minute individual workouts a week with players. The Shockers began team practices on October 15th.
With three seasons behind him at WSU, the enthusiastic and energetic coach has the Shockers on the brink of making noise on the national scene after taking WSU back to the postseason for the first time since 2006.
The veteran coach, who brought WSU from 11 wins his first season to 25 wins in 2010, returns all but one starter off a team that played in the postseason NIT, received votes in the AP poll and advanced to the MVC Tournament title game.
Marshall said this season will mark his first at WSU in which all of 13 of his scholarship players were recruited by he and his staff. He noted that the Shockers were being tabbed the early pre-season favorite to win the Missouri Valley.
In addition to being in the Maui Tournament with several perennial nationally ranked schools, the Shockers face challenging road games at San Diego State University and Louisiana State University plus their Missouri Valley schedule.
His wife, Lynn, joined him at the podium to field questions from the audience.
