Council Member Dalton Glasscock
District 4, City of Wichita
Dalton Glasscock was elected as the council member to District 4 on November 7, 2023. Glasscock is the chief executive officer for a national media company and also owns a consulting company. Glasscock previously worked for the U.S. House of Representatives where he specialized in military and veteran casework. Glasscock grew up in a working-class family in west Wichita where he learned the value of hard work from his mother’s small business and his father’s work in the aviation industry. In 2020, Glasscock won a special election and was appointed by the governor to fill a vacancy on the Sedgwick County Commission. Problem solving and coalition building became signature issues during his tenure. 
 
Glasscock has a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development degree from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wichita State University. He has served the community in a multitude of ways, including as a lecturer of American Politics at Wichita State University, member of the Sedgwick County Mental Health Advisory Board, member of the Wichita Metro Crime Commission, and formerly as Chairman of the Fourth District Advisory Board, member of the City of Wichita’s Grant Review Committee, City’s Bicycle Steering Committee and more. Glasscock is an active member of his church, Wichita’s First United Methodist Church, in which he serves on its leadership board.
 
Glasscock is a fourth-generation lifelong Wichitan who attended Maize South High School, where he first started his local civic involvement as a Wichita Mayor’s Youth Council member. Glasscock is a long-distance runner and has  completed marathons and triathlons. He’s climbed at least eight mountains and has traveled around the world. Glasscock can normally be found walking his dog, Astra, and hosting dinner parties in the historic Delano district.

We had a great luncheon last week! Our thanks to Colin McKenney for hosting at Starkey and for the appropriate signage on Election Day!  Thanks to Christy Barnett & Mindy Wagner for organizing, and to the following members who provided the delicious food:

Our votes topped previous years! Funds raised from the votes, added to what we saved by not eating at RHCC, will provide enough to purchase a ShelterBox kit.
The mission of ShelterBox is to build awareness of global displacement and to facilitate providing families with life-saving shelter and essential tools and supplies that will enable them to rebuild their homes and transform their lives after disaster.

who received the "Rotarian of the Year" award at the District Conference this month! A well-deserved recognition!
 
Congrats also to our club for receiving a banner for
#3 in the District in per capita Annual Fund giving to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

From last month...
The Satellite Club took on a project of helping with Pickleball sessions for 500 Goddard students. Julie Butler, Satellite Chair, reported that despite the weather, it went well. Our club provided funds for water bottles and a snack.

NOTE TO OUR CLUB...
The Satellite Club of West Wichita would like to thank West Wichita Rotary for giving us the money for the water and fruit snacks for the students from the two Goddard intermediate schools during their Pickleball sessions. It was a great day to promote Rotary and the kids had such a great time.  As we all know, the children are our future! Thanks again!
