NEW ROTARY GROCERY BAGS
Last Fall, Rod Brown shared an idea with the board about purchasing reusable bags to use when our club delivers groceries for our Monthly Grocery project, as well as, our Holiday groceries. He felt this would  serve as an awareness to the recipients of our club's involvement while promoting the Rotary name.  So, with the help of several others on the board, they set out to find a source to purchase these bags. As it ended up, Randy & Ronda Bowles identified a source  and Rod followed through to order and purchase the bags himself.
Rod sent this description of the bags and this project:
"The bag is 11” wide by 7”deep by 15” tall and will carry 30 pounds. They’re made from a synthetic material produced from recycled plastics. The Rotary gear logo is 4” in diameter, screened in white on a face pocket for cell phone or receipt. I have 100 bags with the intention of using one per household just to identify the grocery’s inside as a gift from Rotary. We do the good deed, but when we deliver the food there didn’t seem to be any identification that it was Rotary doing the community service. So when the subject of advertising came up in a board meeting in relation to recruiting, I thought this might help our brand recognition or at least raise the question from the logo:
Who is Rotary? And that kinda bags up my bag story."

THANKS ROD!

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
Starting next week, January 19, we will return to RHCC with a hybrid meeting.

Bookshelf Delivery Update: Since the Wichita schools were still deciding about having in-person classes, our bookshelf delivery has been postponed until next month.

Congratulations to June Costin who is now officially retired as of January 7! June started at Butler Community College 23 years ago. She has been both Adjunct Faculty in several departments and now leaves as an Academic Advisor.

STAR Class resumes next week, January 19, 11:30 a.m. at Rolling Hills Country Club. The topic this month is "Rotary International, District 5680 - Organization & Operation."

We need shoppers for our Monthly Grocery project: January, February, March & May. Please contact Rod Brown (Project Chair) or Diane Walker if you are able to help any of these months.

Our club rang bells for the Salvation Army in December. The project was organized by Vern Klassen who shared this report from The Salvation Army:
Your kettle shift raised $420.43 for The Salvation Army's programs and services. Every dollar you helped collect will fuel important services for individuals and families in crisis, through basic needs programs, disaster relief efforts, and so much more. Visit salvationarmy-wichita.org to read about the help available in your community.
