Trooper Ben has over twenty-two year’s law enforcement experience with the Kansas Highway Patrol, where he currently serves as the Public Information Officer of Troop C, covering North-central Kansas. He keeps a continued and forward thinking approach of ways to inform and educate the public and media through his twitter account at @TrooperBenKHP 

Over his many years of using Twitter, he has gained over 81,000 followers across Kansas and around the world. His approach is to be “Real, honest and open” on Twitter with hopes of building a positive relationship with anyone.

BOOKSHELF DELIVERIES LAST WEEK
It was great getting to actually deliver the bookshelves this year to the first grade students at Lawrence & Benton Elementary Schools. Our thanks to all who participated with a SPECIAL THANKS to Roger Bowles and Bob Goebel for their leadership with this project over the past 34 years AND to incoming project chairs, Rob Brown and Vern Klassen.

It’s time to nominate a fellow Rotarian for our club’s Service Above Self Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize a fellow Rotarian for the outstanding contributions they make to the community, our club, social, religious, educational, business ethics, and/or other worthwhile activities which make Wichita a better community.
These members who are past recipients are not eligible:
Bob Goebel, Roger Bowles, Mike Ludlow Michael Phipps, DeAnn Sullivan, Mark Hansen, Phil Michel, Jack Flesher, Sharon West, Brian Goudie, Jamie Wise, John Mosley, Mark Chamberlin and Tony Morrow.

Our Selection Committee, consisting of past recipients, will review all submissions to select this year’s winner.

IRC REFUGEE PROJECT

Our club is collecting items for Dinnerware kits for the Refugee Project. Please bring your donation to our club meetings from now to February 21st and Joey Timmer will organize the kits.  
Dinnerware kits consist of: 
8 place settings of dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, drinking glasses, mugs/tea cups, and silverware.
Full sets are preferred, however, kits will be created from any donations. New or gently used is appreciated.
