TODAY'S MEETING
Mar 26, 2024 12:00 PM
DART
DART(Direct Action and Research Training Center) is a national network of congregation-based community organizations spread throughout thirty-one metropolitan areas in ten states. Each local organization is an independent, 501 c (3) nonprofit with its own unique name, funding, and staff. Each organization follows DART’s method of organizing, but determine their own issues and solutions locally. Their organizers are trained through the DART Organizers Institute and receive on-going training from DART’s national staff.

In January 2023, a sponsoring committee made up of over 50 faith communities began laying the foundation for a permanent justice ministry organization in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Over the course of the year the sponsoring committee elected interim officers, adopted bylaws, and approved a formal process for membership in Justice Together, DART’s newest affiliate.

DART’s mission is to engage congregations in doing justice.

ROTARY WATER PROJECT CHALLENGE
President Colby presented a challenge  to our club members at last week's meeting to help towards purchasing a water system for the Rotary Water Project in the Mkalama District of the Singida Region of Tanzania where there are 96 Primary Schools with over 63,000 students. They currently have systems in 16 schools and their goal is to install a water system into the remaining 80 schools to provide access to safe water for the remaining 50,000 students. Each water system is $5,000 and will  service an average of 650 students.

THE CHALLENGE: Our Club's Foundation will match up to $2,500 with member donations totaling $2,500 to purchase a water system. If you would like to donate, make a check payable to West Wichita Charitable Foundation and bring it to our club meeting or mail to: Rotary Club of West Wichita, PO Box 12064, Wichita, KS  67277.
