Lunch and Entry Complex Tour

Our meeting today will be held at Sedgwick County Zoo

INSTRUCTIONS: Parking at the Zoo is free and you can park anywhere in the Zoo parking lot. To enter, go through the main admission gates. The ticket scanners will be informed about our meeting; just state that you are with the Rotary Club event and the staff will let you through. We will meet for lunch in the POET Gazebo which is at the front of the Zoo. It’s about a two minute walk or less from the entry gates. After lunch, we will head to the new entry complex for a tour.

Dr. Jeff Ettling, Executive Director

After getting his start in zoo leadership at Sedgwick County Zoo in the 90s, he spent 22 years as a curator in St. Louis. He was named Executive Director of the Sedgwick County Zoo in 2018 following Mark Reed's retirement.  Dr. Jeff will give us a tour of the new entry complex.

The new entrance includes eight ticket windows, compared to four previously, which will improve guest experience by reducing wait time to enter the Zoo and a new state of the art membership office with seating in the waiting area. The new administration building replaced the small 60-year-old office and features a board room with an aquarium. The expanded gift shop is double the size of the former facility and has a kennel on the parking lot side to provide out of town guests traveling with their cat or dog a safe, climate-controlled place to house their pet while they visit the Zoo.

For a little inspiration, here are some pictures from our last Wine Dinner Event (2019):

The 4-Way Test of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
This "test" is great to memorize for our weekly meetings but even better when it's applied to our daily activities!
