Robert Mendoza is the Director of Public Works for the City of Derby, Kansas. He serves a vibrant, growing community that continues to take a leadership role in the metropolitan area development. Robert has 30 years of municipal management experience and has worked in many communities across Kansas. He specializes in infrastructure and public utility management and parks and recreation development.
He is a member of the Derby Rotary Club and has held several leadership positions including Governor of District 5690 in 2017/18. He served as Club President, Assistant Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair for Districts 5690 and District 5680. He now serves as the Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (ARRFC) for Zones 25B and 29. He works directly with Rotary Districts across the Zone as they create and implement grant projects throughout the world.
Today, Robert will enlighten us with “the rest of the story” about life after being District Governor; finding your place and real opportunities to serve and help Rotary and Rotarians achieve their goals.

our club meeting today.
ROTARY DISTRICT CONFERENCE
Joey Timmer, DeAnn Sullivan, Dave Abbott and Jon Roper represented our club at the District Conference last weekend in Liberal, KS.
Our club received a certificate of appreciation for financial support of End Polio Now and a No. 1 in the District banner in per capita Annual Fund giving to The Rotary Foundation in 2021-2022.

October Board Highlights
> The board regretfully approved a resignation submitted by Jack Flesher. Jack has been a member of our club for the past 31 years, serving as our 2002-03 Club President.
> The board approved a Leave of Absence for Kandace Day, effective October - December 2022.
> It was noted that our club's foundation is not sales tax exempt, so taxes need to be paid for Monthly and Holiday grocery purchases.
> Preliminary numbers for our Wine Dinner Event show that we will net more than last year. Final numbers will soon be published.
> Leave of Absence dues will increase from $60 to $100 per quarter effective January 1, 2023.
Why the big jump? In 2008, Leave dues were $85 per quarter until 2012 when the board lowered it to $60 to parallel the trial Bridge Membership dues. Despite the continued increasing costs since 2012, the Leave dues have remained at $60 per quarter, not adequately covering the actual membership fees the club pays out per member to Rotary International, District and Club. A Leave of Absence is granted when a member cannot attend meetings for an extended period of time, typically coinciding with our Rotary quarters. A Leave maintains their membership status and the reduced dues are used to pay their membership fee without meals.
> Our next Board Meeting has been moved from November 21st to November 28th.
