Hannah Denys is Central Asia Institute’s communications director. She came to Bozeman by way of Dubois, Wyo., where she worked for two seasons as a wrangler at the Bitterroot Ranch. Before coming out West, she was communications coordinator for The Constitution Project, a bipartisan policy organization in Washington, D.C., and communications and development associate at Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights in Washington, D.C. Denys holds a master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, sociology, and archaeology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Sonja Bahr is Central Asia Institute’s senior development officer. Before coming to CAI, Sonja spent over a decade in the nonprofit field with most of that time devoted to the advancement of the arts and education. She holds an AA from the Art Institute of Seattle and a BA in Liberal Studies from Montana State University. Sonja is a Montana native and long-time Bozeman resident active in the community. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Compassion Project, a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting arts-based educational projects that cultivate compassion for others, oneself, and the environment.
Our Rotary theme for this year is “Rotary Opens Opportunities!” An opportunity open to you is to take part in an interactive webinar providing valuable help with “How to hold effective meetings, including virtual and hybrid”; as well as “Powerful programs, virtually from anywhere”. Our very own member and District Trainer, DeAnn Sullivan, whose company provides leadership and other business training, will be our main presenter and facilitator, assisted by our prior District Trainer and current District Governor Elect, Dr. Fred Heismeyer. There is no registration charge but you do need to RSVP to District Secretary/Treasurer Kent Erb before the event.
This is an important update on our district food project.
We hoped to have the district food distribution project completed by mid-September. However, our service partner, Outreach, Inc, has been delayed in packaging and distribution of their food packets due to extremely high demand for emergency food. As you might expect with COVID-19, fires in the west and hurricanes in the south, the need for food is very high. Outreach is trying to meet all its demands as it can and is working to fulfill our order in the coming weeks.
We anticipate delivery of the food shipment sometime in mid-October. We will keep you informed as to distribution dates and progress. Your patience and flexibility with this project is greatly appreciated.
Yours in Rotary Service
Dana Brewer Fred Heismeyer

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
WE'RE BACK...
Our in-person meetings will resume at Rolling Hills Country Club next Tuesday, October 6! Our meetings will be hybrid so members can choose to meet with us in-person or via zoom. We ask that those attending in person wear your mask except for when you are seated at your table. Meals will be served and tables will be spread apart with 6 seated per table.
OCTOBER QUARTERLY BILLING will be e-mailed this week. Your statement will show the full amount of dues owed for October - December. However, you will have the option to deduct $75 from your bill as a "COVID
Credit" for the July - September dues period, if you choose to do so. This is the amount that the board determined would be "fair to all concerned" based on the club's income/expense analysis. Also on the billing, please add to your dues total any Happy Basket items you've had this past quarter.
MONTHLY GROCERY SHOPPING
Thank you to Stan Krehbiel, Dave Abbott, Rita Rowlen and her husband, for volunteering to purchase and deliver groceries to families in need from Benton & Lawrence Elementary schools in October. We will need more volunteers for the remainder of the school year for our Holiday and Monthly grocery shopping. There
will be a sign up sheet on the back table at our meeting next week or you can e-mail me (Diane) if you have a particular month you prefer to volunteer. Our club will provide the gift cards to purchase the groceries. As a part of COVID precautions, the groceries will be delivered to the front porch.
