Steve Schaumburg was born in Oklahoma, went to high school at both Buhler and McPherson, traveled West for community college in Colby, and then graduated college at Wichita State. After college, his career included 8 years working in advertising agencies and more than 30 years in marketing and communications, sales, and fundraising roles within the financial services, higher education, and healthcare industries. His career took him to Oklahoma City, Sacramento, Dallas, Tulsa, and then Fort Lauderdale before making the decision to “boomerang” back to Wichita about 4 years ago to be near aging parents. Upon his return to Wichita, Steve joined The Nature Conservancy where he works with individuals, foundations, and corporations that share The Conservancy’s commitment to “protect the lands and waters on which all life depends.”

MEET NEW MEMBER: Dale Rein
I was born in Great Bend with a farm background in the Ness County town of Bazine. Upon graduation from the now closed Bazine High it was on to graduation from Ft Hays State U. Additionally I graduated from the Graduate School of Banking – University of Colorado. My 45 year career in banking placed me in several financial institutions across the state with final stop in Burlington before relocation to Wichita in retirement. As a bank officer I specialized in commercial/agricultural lending along with administration. With those duties I was actively involved in many volunteer organizations, foundations and activities – known in banking as CRA (Community Reinvestment Act). Our family continues to operate the family farms. My main goal in retirement is to travel and see the world. (This is not working out well due to Covid!)
