Roxy's Downtown
Rick Bumgardner is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning Director, having been nominated for the prestigious Zelda Fischandler award and was named the Individual Arts Advocate in 2023 by the City of Wichita Arts Council. 
 
Rick’s theatrical training includes the formal classroom training at Wichita State University, and the University of Connecticut for graduate work. He also attended mini master classes with a variety of artists, including Hal Holbrook , Stephen Sondheim, Jarek Stremien, Richard Allen, Nichols and Mary Jane Teal.
 
Rick has worked the alongside artists such as En Vogue, RuPaul, Dee Wallace Stone, Jennifer Holiday, Rod Loomis, Gus Kaikonen, Mauricio, Bustamante, Chaka Khan, Karla, Burns, and many others either producing/acting/directing.
 
Rick has finally landed back in Wichita Kansas, where he serves as producing artistic Director at Roxy’s Downtown. Since joining the organization in September 2017, Roxy’s has produced 60 productions overseeing all artistic elements. Roxy’s has won the Best Live Theatre from the Wichita Eagle Readers’ Choice awards four of  the past six years and is awaiting the results for this year‘s voting. Last year Roxy’s won the Best Live Theatre from Broadway World and is looking forward to repeating this year.
 
A member of Rotary, Rick puts the four-way test to work not only in his own life but on the stage as well.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AFTER YOU'VE PURCHASED THE GIFT:
1. Wrap your gift(s) without a bow
2. Securely attach a tag with the recipient's name and the Gift # on the package.
3. Bring the gift to our meeting at RHCC on December 10 or 17 and mark it off the list when you arrive.
 
SATELLITE MEMBERS: You can drop your gifts off at one of our club meetings or take it directly to Resthaven Mortuary at the corner of 119th & West Highway 54.

The Christmas grocery shopping & deliveries will be Saturday, December 21st, 9:00am at the Dillons @ Central & West. We still have a few volunteer slots open to help with this.

We had a wonderful Annual Christmas luncheon with 70% of our members in attendance along with 21 guests. We enjoyed hearing Christmas carols sung by the  Friends Concert Choir, under the direction of Rolaine Hetherington. 
  
In keeping with tradition, Club President Ed Frey led the choir in singing Happy Birthday to our December birthday celebrants.

HOLIDAY RAFFLE: This week our raffle will be worth over $110 if an Ace is drawn. Proceeds from the raffle are used to provide groceries for families in need at Easter, Thanksgiving & Christmas.

Our next class will be January 21 and the topic is "Rotary International, District 5680 - organization & operation."
