Jennifer is the founder and executive director of ICT SOS. In 2011, she became aware of the needs in the community regarding the issues of human trafficking and set out to find solutions that partnered the professionals with volunteers and community members. Since that time, the organization has grown to include multiple programs and amazing staff as well as yearly practicum placements. Jennifer is a lifelong Wichitan, lover of tacos, and Mister Rogers and mom to two amazing kids.
Fighting Against Human Trafficking
ICT SOS is a grassroots non-profit, founded in Wichita, whose mission is to connect the organizations who work directly with victims of human trafficking with members of the community who are compelled to help. Through this link, our community has an outlet to donate items, raise awareness of the sex trafficking issue and educate our children about safety.
Each year, our club members are given the opportunity to nominate fellow Rotarians for our club’s Service Above Self Award. The names submitted are reviewed by our Nominating Committee made up of past recipients. The purpose of the award is to recognize a fellow Rotarian for the outstanding contributions they make to the community, our club, social, religious, educational, business ethics, and/or other worthwhile activities which make Wichita a better community.
TERRY GARDNER has been a member of our club for 31 years. He is efficient in contacting the schools and coordinating the visits for our "David Weber Extra Effort Awards". He puts his Spanish skills to use when he helps with the holiday grocery deliveries. This is a definite plus when working with the parents of the selected families. He does not seek praise for his efforts, he merely goes about to “do what he said he would do”. An admirable leadership quality.

LIBRARY BOX NEEDS FILLING!
As a club project in October 2017, a group of our club members built and installed these library boxes to put in the neighborhoods of Sharon West and former member, Shelli Kadel. Sharon reports that her library box needs filling so please bring children's booksto our club meeting to help stock the Library Box.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
There will be a Wine Dinner Event Committee meeting today in Mulligans at RHCC after our club meeting. Anyone interested in serving on the committee is invited to attend! Our Wine Dinner Event, which is the annual fundraiser for our club's charitable activities, is scheduled to be held October 8.

STAR CLASS RESCHEDULED
STAR Class will be held on April 26(instead of April 19) at 11:30 a.m. before our club meeting. The topic this month will be "Interact, Rotaract & Youth Exchange" led by Randy Bowles.

Our shopping crew, led by Mark Hansen, will purchase and deliver groceries to two families each from
Lawrence & Benton Elementary schools. Proceeds from our weekly raffle are used to fund this project.
Joining Mark for this project will be Bob Broeckelman, Scott Hinderliter, Heidi Bowen, Randy Bowles, Jonathan Roper and Vern Klassen.
