Each year, our club members are given the opportunity to nominate a fellow Rotarian for our club’s Service Above Self Award. The names submitted are reviewed by our Nominating Committee made up of past recipients. The purpose of the award is to recognize a fellow Rotarian for the outstanding contributions they make to the community, our club, social, religious, educational, business ethics, and/or other worthwhile activities which make Wichita a better community.
Ed has been a dedicated and active member of our club for more than 23 years. Over those years, he has consistently stepped up to lead, to serve, and to make a lasting difference. He has served on our Board as International Service Chair and Club President and is a Paul Harris Fellow+5. He serves as our District ShelterBox Coordinator and District Learning Facilitator. He has been heavily involved in our annual Wine Dinner (now Gala) fundraiser over the years, serving as a co-host at the event, generously donating wine, providing a live auction item of hosting a dinner in his home, and more. He also played an instrumental role in bringing our Satellite Club on board, helping us grow and expand our reach. His service extends far beyond our local community—traveling to Tanzania to support a clean water project, demonstrating firsthand what Service Above Self truly looks like. He was a leader in our strategic planning session and thanks, in large part to his exceptional leadership last year, our club was honored with the District Trophy.
As expressed by members... Beyond all of these accomplishments, what truly sets him apart is who he is every day. He’s fun, positive, and someone who leads by example. He embodies the Rotary 4-Way Test in both word and action, reminding us all what it means to serve with integrity and heart.
Congratulations, Ed, on this well-deserved recognition!
