Rolling Hills Country Club is remaining closed during the day through May 18 under Phase 1 of the reopening plan. They will review their plans under Phase 2 which begins May 19. Our Board of Directors have tentatively targeted June 2 for our first meeting back.
MESSAGE FROM OUR CLUB PRESIDENT
Good Day, Rotarians, This is beginning of week 8 of self isolation and pandemic shutdown. It is amazing how people react to crisis situations and how it draws out their character. Some people react with demonstrations and violence, others reach out to help those that are affected by the crisis. This week as our nation starts to reopen, we have witnessed both. I have been impressed by the attitude of “service above self" in the resilience and the creativity of the Rotarians that I have called this week. Especially, the willingness of those who are ready to help keep the continuity of club in tact until such time that we can meet again face to face. Thank you, to all who have reached out to help us continue as a strong Rotary Club. I miss seeing all of you and look forward to when we can again meet together. Remember to live by our Rotary Motto of the things we think, say, and do.

CLUB HISTORY
RITE (Rotary Intercountry Teacher Exchange) Program
The RITE program, initiated in 1996 by Ralph & Armida Hight, is a joint project of the West Wichita and the West Sedgwick County-Sunrise Rotary Clubs. The inbound portion of the project includes receiving teachers from Panama and Argentina for 4 weeks mid-January to mid-February with volunteer Rotarian home hosts. The outbound program includes sending teachers from the Wichita area to Panama for 4 weeks during their summer break.
Shelli Kadel and Dalia Hale (Sunrise) took over the reins from the Hights in 2010 and have been organizing this program since then. Due to their outreach efforts, additional area Rotary clubs have jumped on board to participate in our RITE program.
NOTE: The 2020 Outbound RITE program has been canceled due to COVID-19.
