Co-Founders of the Bleckley Foundation are Doug Jacobs, LTC US Army Retired, and Wichita’s Greg Zuercher, Iraqi/Afghan Vet. The Bleckley Foundation was established to honor Wichita’s native aviator and WWI Medal of Honor recipient Erwin R. Bleckley’s legacy and artifacts at Eisenhower National Airport. The key artifacts will include a life sized bronze statue and an historic 1918 De Havilland 4 aircraft. The airplane has been undergoing restoration after an accident in 2020 and is being restored to airworthy status.
Our club's STAR classes were originally organized and implemented in 2003 by former member Shelli Kadel. Mark Hansen replaced Shelli as STAR Class Chair in 2009 and has led it since then. The purpose of the class is to serve as a new member orientation to educate members about Rotary, it’s organization and operation. The program consists of 9 classes with a different Rotary topic covered each month. They are held on the third Tuesday of each month, (except March, May & December) 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon, before our club meeting at Rolling Hills Country Club. While STAR Class is geared for newer members, it is open to anyone who would like to learn more about our club and Rotary in general. Upon completion of the 9 classes, members are presented with a star pin to commemorate their accomplishment.
Congratulations to Scott Hinderliter who completed the full series of STAR classes! Mark Hansen, STAR Class Chair, presented Scott with a Star Pin.
The next STAR CLASS will be held on April 18, 11:30 a.m. at RHCC
before our club meeting. The topic will be "Interact Rotaract, Youth Exchange".
A social for our club members -- Includes a three-course dinner and a high energy mystery. Our meeting on April 25 will be cancelled to offset the cost. No charge to our members; guests: $43 each. Reservations will begin in May.

MARCH BOARD HIGHLIGHTS
Our club received a matching Grant initiated by Randy Bowles to purchase a sun shade at the Sunrise Rotary Boundless Playscape.
Upcoming socials: Wichita Wind Surge on June 1st and Prairie Pines Playhouse on June 30th. The board noted that we will enforce that no shows or late cancellations will be charged the full amount.
We will have a map painting on April 1st at Maize Intermediate and a repaint of a map at St. Elizabeth- no date set yet.
Our club will volunteer again this year to help with River Fest Food Court ticket sales.
Our Vocational Service Committee received 9 applications for our $1,000 High School Scholarships. Four recipients were chosen and will attend one of our upcoming club meetings to be introduced to our club.
Resignations were approved for Kandace Day & Lara Crawford who are unable to maintain their membership at this time.
