Kelly Bielefeld's responsibilities as Superintendent of Wichita Public Schools formally began on July 1, 2023. Mr. Bielefeld previously served as the Wichita Public Schools Executive Director of College and Career Readiness, where his work supported secondary schools with Career and Technical Education leadership, college credit expansion, and increasing the number of students earning industry credentials. He was instrumental in helping shape the district’s Future Ready Centers in Advanced Manufacturing and Health Science. These centers provide opportunities for students to gain technical skills so they will be able to enter the workforce after graduation. He received his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Kansas State University, his Masters of Building Leadership from Wichita State University, and his District Level Endorsement from Fort Hays State University.
Mr. Bielefeld and his wife, Angie, are the proud parents of eight children who are WPS students in elementary, middle, and high schools.

Shelly has led the Wichita Foundation as President & CEO since 2012, deepening its community impact through the stewardship of more than $100 million in charitable community assets. She interacts with donors to help them direct their charitable giving and collaborates with staff and Board to spark change.
Shelly grew up on a farm outside of Newton, where she learned the value of community at a young age. She earned a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from K-State and spent several years moving throughout the mid-West working in marketing and communications. Some stops included The Indianapolis Zoo, the Illinois Board of Regents, and Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland where she managed the merger of seven Girl Scout councils.
When she’s not working for a better Wichita, Shelly enjoys baking, reading, playing the cello, walking her dog, and going to K-State football games.

Westlink Branch Library

Tracie Partridge is the Manager of the Westlink Branch Library of the Wichita Public Library system. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Wichita State University and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Emporia State University. Tracie has worked for the Wichita Public Library system for 24 years. She started as a Clerk at the Westlink Branch in 1998. After a couple of months, she received a full-time position as a Library Assistant in the Central Library Children’s Room where she eventually served as the Children’s Room Manager. Tracie left the Children’s Room when offered the position of Manager of the Westlink Branch Library, her childhood library.
Tracie’s presentation will focus on the Westlink Branch’s upcoming expansion and remodeling project. She will share what’s possible at the branch’s temporary site at Central and Ridge. She will ensure that attendees are aware of the new resources and services that the Library continues to add. Tracie will conclude her presentation by issuing library cards to interested parties. Identification with proof of address is needed.

The Outreach Program

It is rare for nonprofits to merge, but today’s speaker will share his first-hand experience with the recent merging of a local Kansas nonprofit into a larger Iowa-based nonprofit with overlapping missions.
Delane Butler’s nonprofit merging experience involves El Dorado-based Numana, of which he served as President since 2021, and The Outreach Program based in Union, Iowa. Numana’s mission was to empower people to serve the hungry and they accomplished this by conducting volunteer meal-packaging events in Kansas and across the United States. The Outreach Program also serves the hungry through meal-packaging events in addition to providing safe water, education and medical help to those in need.
During the presentation, Delane will share highlights of his experience with managing Numana’s side of merging into The Outreach Program and its four areas of nonprofit work.
Delane has a passion for consistent branding and has extensive experience in the nonprofit world. Previous to the Numana position, he served as Vice President of Marketing at United Way of the Plains in Wichita for 24 years and Communications Associate at United Way of Central Indiana in Indianapolis. He has served on the boards of the Kansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Advertising Federation of Wichita, and on the elder board at Pathway Church.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Texas Tech University. He is married to Alicia Butler, Wichita Area Director for Safe Families for Children, a Chicago-based nonprofit, and they have five children.

Bob Broeckelman grew up on a farm in a family of twelve north of Oakley, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University majoring in Ag Education and graduated in 1970 with his Bachelor’s Degree and his Masters Degree in 1972 in Adult and Occupational Education. He taught Vocational Ag in Norton, Kansas for five years and was named the Kansas Outstanding Vocational Ag Teacher in 1976.
He became the Executive Secretary for the State FFA Association at Kansas State University for five years and in 1981 was hired into Farm Credit as Assistant Director of Marketing for the Federal Land Bank. For the next 33 years, Bob worked in the Farm Credit System developing and validating selection systems that dropped turnover from 28.7% down to 3-4% in five years, saving the Farm Credit System millions of dollars in recruiting and selection expense. Interviews were developed for selecting loan officers, appraisers, credit analyst, support personnel, staff, manager supervisors and IT employees. By using these interviews and Predictive Index, they are able to match applicants with the right jobs approximately 92% of the time.
In 2007, Bob helped Agri-businesses build interview for additional job interviews such as Truck Drivers, Custom Applicators and Sales Professionals by studying the best Agri-business personnel in the various positions and developing profiles of what to look for when hiring new employees.
In 1988, Bob completed his PhD in Adult and Occupational Education and has worked for years training management teams and Boards to become more effective.
Bob and Bunny have three children: Ashley Wiltse (Sean) teaches 3rd grade in Maize, Kansas, Brooks is a Commercial Airline Pilot for Delta and Barry is a Pediatrician in Kansas City, Kansas. Each of their three children has blessed them with two grandsons.

Marsha Potvin is the Founder and CEO of Footprints ICT, a 501c3 non-profit here in Wichita. Marsha grew up in Manhattan, Kansas but moved to Wichita in the mid 70’s. During her career, she helped manufacturing companies build their products faster, better, cheaper as a business systems consultant. She and her husband retired in 2016 and traveled the country in their motor home, but settled back down in Wichita when they missed their granddaughter too much. Marsha’s sister started working with a non-profit out of Denver collecting NEW socks for those in-need in Manhattan. Marsha liked the idea, and was affiliated with the same Denver non-profit for a short time. In 2019, she decided she wanted to be able to make her own decisions, so she started her own 501c3 and called it Footprints ICT. Marsha had no idea how huge the need in Wichita was for something as simple as a pair of NEW socks. She started with one outreach event in Riverside Park and put a sock drawer in the first Title 1 School in 2019. Four short years later, Footprints ICT now furnishes NEW socks at multiple outreach events, has sock drawers in over 80 schools, and has distributed over 43,000 pairs of NEW socks. When she’s not handing a pair of socks to someone in-need, she enjoys traveling with her husband Michael and their beagle Sofie. |

ShelterBox Mission: We provide shelter, essential items and technical assistance to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people recover and rebuild their homes after disaster. We listen and adapt our support to the needs of each community, working together with those affected by disaster, alongside our supporters and partners. ShelterBox and Rotary officially became project partners in disaster relief in 2012. This partnership is instrumental to Rotary's disaster response strategy. It is this desire in each of us to research, educate, and just learn how things operate or were made. This has been the way I approach learning. My name is Eileen Kludt and I moved to Wichita in the summer of 2011 after the passing of my husband, Francis, in 2005. I grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, graduated high school and entered Nursing school. Nursing was a profession I enjoyed but always felt someday I would go back to school. I was accepted to Texas A&M University after my younger daughter graduated from A&M and graduated in 2005 with a Business Degree and a minor in Horticulture. I am the proud mother of three beautiful children, all of whom are Aggies and six grandchildren. My oldest granddaughter is a junior at Kansas State and a proud member of the KState Wildcat Band. 4-H was a big part of our family and as a result I was appointed to the State 4-H Clothing Board and received the Award for Gray County 4-H Volunteer of the Year. Eileen is a member of East Wichita Rotary, two-time Paul Harris Fellow and received Rotarian of the Year in 2013-2014. Eileen has spent the last two years learning everything there is to know about The Hillcrest. |

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians who share its vision of a better world.
Contributions made to TRF are tracked and accumulated by Rotary International. You can register at rotary.org to make on-line contributions or give a check to Monty Allen, our club’s Foundation Chair, and she will mail it in.
Anyone who contributes $100 or more per year to the Annual Programs Fund will be recognized as a Sustaining Member. As an incentive to our members: Any member who contributes $100 or more to The Rotary Foundation during a Rotary year (July 1 - June 30) will be eligible for a drawing to win a week’s stay at the Bowles’ Colorado house.
Anyone who contributes $1,000 or more (can be cumulative) to the Annual Programs Fund may become a Paul Harris Fellow. Each new Paul Harris Fellow receives a commemorative certificate and a Paul Harris Fellow pin. Subsequent $1,000 levels receive a corresponding PHF pin as a recognition.
Contributions will go into the Annual Fund or can be earmarked for Polio Plus.

"Rotary's Work In Ukraine"

Dr. Arlen K. Honts enjoyed a 28-year career as an academician. He held the title of Professor of Business Administration and taught a variety of management courses including Human Resources, Management, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, International Business, and Strategic Management. For 23 years, Dr. Honts was tapped to lead the Business programs at two different universities – serving as a Program Director for undergraduate Business, as Chair for undergraduate Business, and as Dean of the School of Business.
Dr. Honts is active in several community organizations. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Wichita where he has served a variety of roles including being the President in 2014-2015. He serves Rotary International at the District level as the District 5680 Learning Facilitator. Previously he served as an Assistant District Governor and as the Inbound Coordinator of the Group Study Exchange program. He is active in the Friends of McConnell (Air Force Base) group where he has been an Honorary Commander to the 350th Air Refueling Squadron and the 22nd Maintenance Group. In 2019, Dr. Honts was made McConnell Air Force Base’s ninth Golden Eagle (McConnell’s highest honor for civilian partners). From 2017 – 2021, he represented McConnell at the United States Air Force level, serving on the Air Mobility Command Civic Leaders Council. He served on the founding Board of Wichita BizFest – an initiative of the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to promote entrepreneurship and education to minority high school students. He has served on several advisory boards for the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Honts has served on the Board of Directors for a variety of organizations, including the Rotary Club of Wichita, the Cleveland County (North Carolina) Chamber of Commerce and the Cleveland County Economic Development Commission. He served on the Executive Committee of the Shelby, North Carolina Relay For Life (a volunteer function of the American Cancer Society) and on the Cleveland County Job Development Task Force. Dr. Honts attends River Community Church in Wichita, Kansas.
Dr. Honts is a graduate of both the University of Oklahoma and Vanderbilt University. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Honts earned his Ph.D. in Organization Studies at Vanderbilt University.
A native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Arlen is married to Stacy Honts (nee Harris) of Wichita, Kansas. They have two daughters, one son, one son-in-law, one grandson, and one granddaughter – Anna Laura Honts, Emma Honts Baumgartner, Colin Honts, Mitchell Baumgartner, Thaddeaus Baumgartner, and Hadassah Baumgartner.

With more than 45 years of experience in higher education, Elizabeth has served as CEO of the Wichita State University Foundation since 1991, becoming president and CEO in 2006. Between 1991 and 2006, Elizabeth also held the title of vice president for university advancement, responsible for the Foundation as well as University Communications and Marketing, the Ulrich Museum of Art and the Board of Trustees. She is the youngest vice president ever named at Wichita State and the second female vice president. Since her arrival, the WSU Foundation’s assets have grown from $54 million to over $420 million. Most recently, she led the Foundation’s Shock the World Campaign, raising nearly $308 million on a goal of $250 million.
Active in her community, Elizabeth is past chair of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and past president of the Downtown Rotary Club, from which she received the club’s Service-Above-Self award. She also serves on the board of the Kansas Society for Children with Challenges. At the state level, Elizabeth is a member of the board of directors for the University of Kansas Hospital Authority. In addition, she served for six years on the Investment Advisory Committee for Rotary International (Evanston, IL). She is a member of the Association of Governing Boards, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Elizabeth has been recognized professionally by receiving the CASE Commonfund Institutionally-Related Foundation Award (2009) for executive leadership. She was named one of the “50 Kansans You Should Know” in 2012 by Ingram’s, Kansas City’s business magazine. In 2018, Elizabeth was inducted into the Wichita Women in Business Hall of Fame, having been named to the inaugural class in 2003. She is especially grateful to have received the Wichita State University Alumni Association Recognition Award in 2006.
Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College and a Masters of Education and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Texas.
She is married to Don and they have two adult sons, Lance (married to Paula) and Brandon.

"Holiday Memories"

Shelli Kadel enjoyed her years as a member of this club and is a past president. She treasures many memorable moments and continued friendships gained through Rotary. She currently serves this club by coordinating hosts for the RITE teachers.
Presently, Shelli is a substitute teacher, most often for long-term maternity leave jobs. She also works part-time for Hein Lawn Service, who has the contract for caring for the “Flowers on Douglas” project. Her husband, Craig, is retired and together they care for Shelli’s mother who lives nearby. Their two married daughters live out of town but they love connecting with their two grandsons through video chats. Shelli is honored to be asked to be the program today and looks forward to being among dear friends.

Florencia (Flor) Zappia is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Flor has been an English teacher since 2013. She has taught students in elementary, high school and adult levels and strives to be innovative to help them acquire English skills. Flor’s goal for being a RITE teacher is to learn new strategies and enhance her professional experiences while exchanging teaching ideas with other educational professionals. She plans to share them with colleagues and students. Flor trusts her experiences in the U.S. will further enhance her knowledge in planning lessons, new strategies in teaching and classroom management and naturally applying them to her skill set. She represents the Rotary Club of Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires. Flor has traveled to the U.S., England, Scotland, Greece, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Bolivia, and Perú. Gimena (Gime) Rios is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gimena is a teacher in a teaching preparation hybrid program. This experience has allowed her to work across all grade levels for the last three years. Gimena’s goal as a RITE Teacher is to create connections among new colleagues to share with co-workers about the U.S. American culture. She sees her experiences life-changing and filled with comprehension to enhance her teaching skills to use with students and share with other teachers. Gimena traveled to England, Italy, and Spain in two different multiple-weeks study and cultural trips. She has vacationed in France. Gimena is a volunteer enthusiast and helps people in need of health services and food resources. She also has volunteered in animal shelters. She represents the Rotary Club Once in Buenos Aires. Iván Guerra- David, Chiriquí, Panamá. Iván has been a teacher of English for 23 years. He currently teaches grades 1st-3rd in the David area. He also teaches indigenous students who come from the Comarca (Reservation). His experience has allowed him to work with university students and is the English program coordinator of 11 teachers in his school. He hopes to acquire new teaching techniques and methodologies to teach English more effectively. He is excited to participate as a RITE Teacher because Rotary Clubs in Wichita and David help teachers grow and to be helpful to their students. He hopes to continue to motivate his students to better English students by learning new techniques while in the Wichita area schools. Iván has traveled Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Salvador, and Honduras as a tourist. He came to Pennsylvania in 2017 for two months to study English as part of the Panama Bilingüe Program. He represents the Rotary Club of David. Ingrid Villamonte is from David, Chiriquí, Panamá. Ingrid has been a teacher of English to elementary students since 2013. Her first 3 years were spent in a private bilingual school. She moved to public school and is currently teaching English to K-6 students in a small school in David. Ingrid is excited to be a part of the RITE program due to its unique opportunity to experience the U.S. educational system while practicing her English-speaking skills. She hopes to learn new teaching strategies to enhance her skill set. She wants to share her new knowledge with colleagues and students when she returns. She also teaches future teachers of English at the university level. She is representing the Rotary Club of David. Ingrid is involved in her community through water projects and other resources to help those in need provided by non-profit organizations. Ingrid has traveled to Costa Rica and to Washington D.C.. Her time in D.C. included two months at American University to study English as part of the Panama Bilingüe Program.

The Phoenix’s mission is to build a sober active community that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that together we rise, recover, and live. It is a National non-profit bringing support to those who are in recovery, from either substances or the human experience. They work within our community to build healthy connections around an active lifestyle. Anyone with 48 hours of sobriety is welcome to attend, that is the only cost of membership.
Maria & Cody will be speaking today about their role in the community, who they serve, and their impact.

Gene Taylor was named the Director of Athletics at K-State in April 2017, and in six years under his leadership, the Wildcats have recorded championship performances on the field and in the classroom, in addition to continued fundraising success and immediately improving the facility infrastructure to enhance the experience of all Wildcat student-athletes. Taylor’s strategic plan for the department places an emphasis on the student-athlete experience, while his leadership helped navigate the COVID-19 crisis, in addition to enhancing the department’s already-strong diversity and inclusion program, has been well documented. Serving as Deputy Athletic Director at Iowa from 2014 – 2017 after having a very successful run at North Dakota State and rising through the ranks over 15 years at Navy, Taylor started his career in Athletics at Arizona State and SMU. Taylor and his wife Cathy, have one daughter, Casey, and a son, Jared.

THE ROTARY WATER PROJECT
In 2009, Isaac began engaging hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the U.S. in meal packing events to package more than 50 million meals for food insecure people both here in America and various developing countries. During the response to the Haiti earthquake in 2010, he coordinated a six-month effort to engage more than 120,000 volunteers across America to package more than 20 million meals for disaster relief. During the pandemic of 2020, he coordinated the packaging of more than 10 million meals in Kansas for a nation-wide response.
Isaac is the VP of International Development for The Outreach Program, an international non-profit with a mission to provide a future for the world’s most vulnerable children through safe water, food, medical care and education. His area of expertise is in the creation and installation of solar-powered water purification systems and frequently travels to Tanzania, East Africa where Outreach has been creating social impact through those four areas since 2004.
Isaac is an Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5680 and Past President for the Rotary Club of El Dorado. He is the Chair for the District 5680 End Polio Now Committee, volunteers for the district Public Image Committee, received the “Rotarian of the Year” award for District 5680 for 2021-22, and is the District Governor Nominee Designee.

Katie Woods is the tournament director for the National Baseball Congress World Series, becoming the ninth director dating back to 1935, as well as the first woman to hold that position.
Prior to joining the NBC, Katie spent 13 years in Minor League Baseball as an innovative and celebrated minor league executive, serving as the Assistant General Manager of both the Lancaster JetHawks and Everett AquaSox, and most recently the Director of Marketing & Community Engagement for the Wichita Wind Surge.
Katie has been honored as Female Executive of the Year three times in MiLB, twice in the Northwest League with Everett (2013 & 2015), and once in the California League with Lancaster (2019). She was instrumental in the execution of the 2013 NWL All-Star Game events and operations and has consulted on business operations for teams around the country.
In her current role, Katie leads all aspects of the NBC World Series, celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2024, including team selection, tournament operations, budget, schedule, promotions, merchandise, and marketing.
A native of Bellingham, Washington, Katie graduated from California State University Northridge, and now lives in Wichita with her husband and two daughters.
