Robert Mendoza is the Director of Public Works for the City of Derby. He serves a vibrant, growing community that continues to have a leadership role in our area Development. Robert has over 20 years of municipal management experience and has worked in many communities across Kansas. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Derby and has held several positions including 2012-13 club president, assistant governor, 2017-18 District Governor and District Rotary Foundation chair. Robert served in the United States Air Force and is a veteran of the Gulf War.
Robert's career focus and personal goals center on community service. He manages a range of public utilities and services, understanding first-hand the value of public health, clean water, sanitation, safe recreational opportunities and environmental stewardship. These are all primary values of Rotary and membership in the local club became a great opportunity to expand his focus to global issues. He is active in several municipal utility organizations.
Robert and his wife, Kelly, have one grown daughter and a son-in-law. In his spare time, he is an avid reader, a decorative painter and community service volunteer.

THANKSGIVING GROCERY DELIVERY
Mark Hansen reported that all went well with the grocery shopping and deliveries last Saturday. The crew consisted of club members: Mark Hansen (organizer), Terry Gardner, Randy Bowles, Scott Hinderliter, Bob Broeckelman, Jon Roper, Brian Goudie and Rod Brown, along with Interact students: Halle Zwetow, Andi Zwetow and Evan Dome. They delivered Thanksgiving groceries to two families from Lawrence and two families from Benton Elementary Schools. The Christmas Holiday grocery shopping and delivery will be on Saturday, December 21.
The board has approved the following nominations for our 2020-21 Board to be presented to the membership for approval at our December 10th club meeting.
