Extra Effort awards were presented to selected 4th grade students from Benton Elementary. The students are pictured here with their teachers.
Each teacher is asked to choose one student to be recognized for their Extra Effort in the classroom. This does not have to be based on academics; it can be for good citizenship, improvement, etc. Each month during the school year, a students from a different grade level from Lawrence and Benton Elementary Schools are invited to be our guest for lunch with their teacher. At the lunch, the student is given a nicely framed certificate of achievement while the teacher explains to the club members the reason the student was chosen.
In 2012, the board voted to rename this project to the "David Weber Extra Effort Awards" in memory of  David Weber and his years of involvement with this project. David was a Charter Member of our club who passed away in January 2012. Terry Gardner stepped up to serve as Chair of this project the remainder of that school year and has been the Chair since.
