Club Visioning
Club Visioning

Last Fall, Colby Reynolds, Club President, and Ed Frey, President-Elect,  presented information to the board about participating in a  Club Vision Facilitation with a goal to create excitement and more participation in our club. On March 5, a group of 15 of our members, representing our past, current, and future leaders, met for a 4-hour Visioning session with Rotary Facilitators to develop goals with an action plan under a 3-year Master Plan.

About Club Visioning…

Visioning is the foundation of a successful club, bringing its members together towards building…

  • Continuity of leadership
  • Consistency in programing
  • Consensus towards purpose and action.

The visioning process allows the club to develop a strong path toward the future providing a road map that is easy for leaders and members to understand and serves as a foundational piece for any club that wants to grow and become more effective. This step becomes the Vision to Success.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF
This year, our club awarded a second Service Above Self Award posthumously to Jodi Besthorn due to her service to our club and the community. Jodi first began her Rotary membership in the Rotary Club of Smith Center, 1995-1997. She became a member of our Rotary Club of West Wichita in 1998, until she passed on January 1, 2024.

Jodi served on our Board in various positions over the years, including a Director, Club Service Chair, Club President and Community Service Chair. Through our different Avenues of Service, Jodi helped arrange speakers for our weekly meetings, planned club socials, helped with projects in our community, such as Map painting, Lawrence Fall Fest, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Wichita Riverfest ticket sales, and more! Jodi also served as a Fireside meeting host, organizer of our Annual Soup Luncheon, served on our Wine Dinner Fundraising committee and was our 2022 point of contact person for the event. She was very active throughout her membership; always willing to help and serve where needed. She was a Paul Harris Fellow and the Rotary District 5690 Learning Facilitator (2002-2005).
Randy Bowles presented the award to Jodi's sister, Elaine Besthorn, at her home.
