What is Rotary?
Rotary is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotary club members in 32,000 Rotary Clubs that are based in nearly 170 countries worldwide.
• West Wichita Rotary has 60-65 members
• Meets every Tuesday noon at Rolling Hills Country Club
What does Rotary do?
Rotary clubs exist to improve communities locally and around the world. Rotary also encourages high ethical standards in business and professions. Rotary clubs work to advance international understanding to partners with clubs in other countries.
Rotary meets weekly for fellowship and interesting informative programs dealing with topics of local and global importance. Membership reflects a wide cross-section of community representation.
How does the West Wichita Rotary Club help our community?
Rotary provides volunteer service to the following organizations:
• Lawrence Elementary, Wichita Friends, Benton Elementary
• West Wichita area High Schools’ Interact Club
• Salvation Army
• Open World Program
• United Methodist Open Door
• RITE (Rotary Inter-Country Teacher Exchange)
Membership expectations
Qualified candidates for Rotary club membership are adults of good character and business, professional, or community reputation.
Members ...
• Are encouraged to attend weekly meetings and Rotary events
• Should pay dues promptly; billed $180 Quarterly and includes meals
• Should make every effort to meet the Rotary Four-Way test in the things you think, say and do:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Membership Process
• Each new member must be proposed for membership by an active member of the club
• A proposal form is submitted to our Executive Secretary to obtain approval by the board for a 7-day publication
• A 7-day publication (prospect’s name/business/classification/sponsor) is sent to our membership to provide an opportunity for any objections
• With no objections received after 7 days, the proposed member is approved for membership.
